RISE 2014 is a day-long conference designed to inspire and empower the next generation of social entrepreneurs. In celebration of Bristol’s Green Capital status, this year’s conference will explore the changing nature and future of business, and discuss the nexus of things that are causing this, including green/sustainability trends, the emphasis on local independent SMEs and also the drive for improved well-being and work-life balances.
Key Note Speaker- Tim Smit, Founder of the Eden Project.
The conference is entirely student run and is a collaboration between ‘Inc.’ the University’s enterprise society and Bristol Hub. Now entering its fourth year, the conference continues to build upon its four key principles:

- Showcasing social enterprises
- Engaging students and social enterprises

Event Type: Fundraiser Walk/Tour (in aid of Farms for City Children)

Come and join Pride of Britain’s Simon Dell and Liz Miall on a Warhorse Walk with a difference!
This is an event to raise funds for Farms For City Children, founded by the War Horse author, Michael Morpurgo and his wife Clare.
Starting at Sheepstor on Dartmoor, we will have an easy 2 mile walk around the breathtaking scenery seen in the film, War Horse. Simon and Liz are fantastic tour guides and if you don’t know the story then you can always read the free copy of War Horse you get with your tickets – or soak up the amazing views!
The cost is a minimum £10 donation, including a complimentary copy of the War Horse book. The plan is to meet at 10.30 am, then after the walk you can go to the Royal Oak at Meavy for a delicious lunch.
There is a maximum of 20 places for this event and booking is essential to reserve your place.

A dusk-to-dark adventure to see these amazing creatures flitting through the shadows.
Join us in the cemetery and embark on a dusk-to-dark adventure in search of these elusive creatures. Led by a local expert from Avon Bat Group using detection equipment, expertise and a few tricks up their sleeve, you’ll visit the best bat-spotting locations in the cemetery as the bats come out to feed at dusk. Learn about our native bat species, their habitats and how humans can help these unique winged mammals.
